Caleb Owens, a recent graduate of the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation, will attend Morehouse College this fall.

According to Owens, this is partly due to the support he received from his sponsor Monica Heseman.
“MWYF and my sponsor pushed me to be the best I could be,” Owens said in a press release. “The letters from Ms. Monica always made me feel supported and that someone wanted me to do great things.”

Heseman helped Owens overcome many obstacles on his way to earning a college degree.
“I attended the MWYF year-end awards and sat in front of Caleb’s mother as he was repeatedly called to the stage to accept countless awards. I’m not sure who was prouder, his mother or me,” Heseman said in the press release.
