A woman died early Tuesday morning after being struck on Preston Highway and one person is being questioned after driving from the scene, Louisville Metro Police said.
Officers with the LMPD Sixth Division responded to a call about a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Preston Highway and Durrett Lane about 12:40 p.m., LMPD spokesman Aaron Ellis said.
According to the preliminary investigation and witnesses, a woman was riding her bicycle northbound on Preston Highway when she was struck by a black pickup truck traveling in the same direction, Ellis said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man continued to drive and did not assist the woman, but reportedly called MetroSafe some time later and said he was involved in an accident on Preston Highway.
The driver is now being questioned and charges will follow, Ellis said.
